Roisin Bicklmeier and her fiance wanted to include their dog, Bear in their wedding festivities. Bear had just recently joined their family, but they looked at him as their own child.
It was planned that Bear would walk down the aisle right before Roisin. At the reception, they would have a dog biscuit bar and party favors with Bear’s photo on the back. They also wanted him represented on their wedding cake somehow.
“We worked with the amazing Kake by Darci (based in Canmore, Alberta) and told her we wanted to incorporate Bear into our wedding cake,” Roisin said. “I told her I had brought a little golden figurine and was wondering if she could put him on the back of the cake as a hidden detail doing something naughty, like dirty paw prints or whatever. She told me she would absolutely incorporate him, and I didn’t actually know what she was planning until I saw it on the day!”
All went as planned on the big day. Bear walked Roisin down the aisle. The cute dog wore a sign that said. “Don’t worry ladies, I’m still single.” Of course, everyone loved Bear and was glad he was a part of the wedding. But the big highlight was about to be presented – The cake.
The Cake Stole The Show
The front of the cake was much like any other wedding cake. But on the back, was a dog figurine that looked like Bear. It was made to look like Bear took a bite out of the cake.
“The guests loved it,” Roisin said. “In fact, as soon as we cut the cake everyone ran over and took photos of the back of the cake! They thought it was just super cute!”
“Bear had the best time at the wedding,” Roisin said. “I’m pretty sure he thought it was just a party for him! It was super surreal seeing our cake everywhere but I’m just so glad everyone loved it,” she added. “It was such a special day to us and Bear is literally our child so we are just happy we could include him.”
