Criminals do terrible things to people and animals. Studies have shown that people who start off abusing animals, often later go on to abuse humans.
One dog was found in a dumpster, both neglected and beaten so badly that it was almost hard to tell she was a dog. An investigation is still ongoing to find out who did this to a dog that was found in a mall dumpster in Raytown, Missouri.
When the dog was found, she was taken to the Midwest Animal ResQ’ Shelter. The shelter has offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the perpetrator. Erin Morse, President of the shelter released this statement, “To get her into the condition she is in now, it took months.”
The dog, now named Iris still has a long way to go, but she is rebounding. Her white blood count is very low and her wounds are still open to infection. She will need to have a toe amputated by a vet. Thankfully, she is putting on weight and has not lost her will to live.
People who do this kind of thing to animals need to be stopped. If you witness animal abuse, it’s important to contact your local humane society to report it. It may start out as small, but it is still abuse. It can then escalate until a dog suffers horribly the way that Iris has. Animal abuse is illegal and the people who do it are criminals that should be behind bars.
You Can Help By Donating To Iris’s Medical Fund
Iris is a fighter and with help can have a better future. She wouldn’t have made it this far if she wasn’t a strong dog. If you would like to help by donating to Iris’s medical care, please visit the Midwest Animal ResQ’ Shelter’s website by clicking here.
