Cats senses that baby is in danger, alerts parents immediately they are forever grateful

Animals have an amazing way of sensing when something isn’t right. There are so many stories of animals saving humans in distress. Pets especially can help us when we take the time to listen to them. Because they live in close connection to us, sometimes all we need to do is be quiet and listen to what they are trying to say. Let’s take a look at one special cat that helped save a life and save a family from suffering an unbearable loss.

Bernita and Roy Rogers from Kansas City, Missouri know how deep a loss can hurt. They had dreamed of having children, but sadly they suffered the loss of having 3 children die from being born too soon. Such tragedies make people learn to cope in their own ways. For Bernita, she adopted a stray cat for companionship.  The cat became an important family member to The Rogers as you may well have guessed.

They named the cat Midnight. Just the company alone became a blessing to Bernita. But Midnight was soon to be more of a blessing than they could ever have imagined.

Soon after adopting Midnight, Bernita became pregnant again. This time she carried her child to term and delivered a healthy baby girl. They named their daughter, Stacey. Life was full for the Rogers. Like many protective and loving parents, they installed a baby monitor in their daughter’s room for times when they weren’t right with her.

One day their little girl was not feeling well, so they took her to a doctor. The physician assured the parents not to worry and that their daughter just had a cold. They took their baby girl home and laid her down for a nap. Soon Bernita and Roy heard the strangest cat sounds coming from the baby monitor. “It was this screech-wail-scream-cry. It was frightening enough that I jumped out of the chair and ran upstairs,” Bernita recalled.

When they arrived at their baby’s side, they saw that Stacey was gasping for air. She was beginning to turn blue from lack of oxygen. Bernita and Roy rushed their baby to the hospital to find out that Stacey had suffered a full respiratory failure. Once medical aid was provided, the little girl recovered to full health.

Stacey most likely would not be alive if it weren’t for the family’s cat. Had Midnight not cried out those alarm calls, this could have been the 4th child that The Roger’s family lost. Instead thanks to their cat, Stacey is alive and well today.

“For whatever reason, we were given a second chance by the help of a cat to enjoy this child and watch her grow,” the parents said.

I hope that this story helps dispell myths about black cats causing bad luck. Or how cats steal the breath of newborns. While most of the general public may know these rumors are not true and laugh at such silly beliefs, the truth is that black cats suffer the consequences of these falsehoods. Many black cats are looked over for adoptions because of their color. Others are hurt and killed on Halloween by evil people. Thanks to this black kitty, a child is alive today. And The Roger’s family couldn’t be any more thankful.
