Family Rescues Stray, But What He Does Leaves Them Speechless

Meet Nutmeg, the tabby cat who is a contender for the world’s oldest cat. He just celebrated his 31st birthday. In human years this cat would be 141 years old.  WOW!

Liz and Ian Finlay found the cat over 26 years ago in their garden under a wheelbarrow.  The cat showed up malnourished and he had a lump on his neck.  The Finlay’s took the cat to the Protection League where they gave the cat an exam.  During this, they determined by looking at his teeth that he was at least 5 years old.

The couple decided to keep him and give him a safe and loving home.  “He is not our cat, we are his humans and he never lets us forget it, I think that’s the secret to his long life,” said Ian. “He is as cantankerous as ever.”

Last year they thought they were going to lose their precious cat when they had to rush him to the animal hospital.  The couples treasure the decades they have spent with Nutmeg.

What is the Record?

The Guinness record holder for the Oldest Living Cat is 30 years of age making Nutmeg a clear contender in this category.
