Great Dane Changes 11-Year Old Girl's Life Forever, She Will Never Forget How It Felt

Many of us have had to lean on our pets at one time or another for comfort or companionship. There’s nothing like your pet to comfort you through a hard time. A Great Dane named George just so happens to be the perfect height for a little girl named Bella.  Literally she leans on George to help her walk.

Bella Burton, age 11 was not able to walk without crutches because of a rare disease called Morquio Syndrome.

“Before meeting George I got around on crutches or in a wheelchair and I’m just like I don’t want this anymore.”

When Bella’s mom, Rachel began taking her daughter to a place called Service Dog Project it was there that she formed an immediate connection with one special Great Dane named George.  Bella climbed up with George and she just started talking to George. The next thing you know his head is in her lap and he’s just looking up at her like she was the best thing in the whole world.

The warm feelings were mutual between Bella and George. “I could tell he needed me and I needed him,” Bella tells.  It wasn’t long after that meeting that Bella could walk again thanks to George.

But that was all about to change when George entered her life.  “The first time I walked with George it was amazing. I hadn’t walked in so long and now I get to do it again” Bella joyfully recalls.

For all that George has done it was time for him to have a special surprise.
