Well, it’s official everyone, here at Animals Being Cute we found the best job ever — puppy snuggling. Now, don’t get too excited because it’s a volunteer position, so you won’t earn any money. However, the Humane Society in Tampa Bay is looking for volunteers to help them out.
And who doesn’t want to snuggle a puppy?
Well, according to the Animal Rescue Site, sadly, a lot of places struggle to find people to hang out with the dogs.
Currently, there is only one volunteer at the Humane Society shelter helping do this incredibly important job — Jeff Honig.
Jeff is an ideal fit for the job, you see. He’s a retired sheriff’s deputy with a lot of time on his hands.
Jeff gets a lot out of the experience, but it’s just as crucial for the dogs. Especially when the dogs are fresh out of surgery.
When a dog wakes up from anesthesia, they are frightened, lonely, and confused. The shelters like to have people on hand to hold and pet them to keep them calm.
It was quite shocking for us to learn that people aren’t lining up for the job of puppy snuggling.
You see, during the school year, at least in Tampa Bay, there are plenty of teenagers around to do the job.
However, once school lets out for the season, the dogs get really lonely again.
So, as a result, the Tampa Bay HumaneSociety put out the call for more snugglers. Now, if you don’t live in Tampa Bay, don’t panic.
We bet there are a ton of places out there looking for help with puppy snuggling — all you have to do is check.
Jeff already has four cats at home. However, he finds that snuggling at the shelter brings him valuable, “dog time.”
That could be you, all you have to do is check in with your local shelter to see what sort of help they need.
