Kittens Born With Crooked Legs Get Tiny Casts To Help Them Grow Healthy And Strong

Six precious little kittens were rescued by Kitten Rescue in Los Angeles. They have been given names from popular wines. And just like wine Cabernet, Merlot, Pinot, Chianti, Burgundy, and Malbec, just keep getting better (and healthier) as they age.

The sweet kittens were only three weeks old when they were rescued. Caregivers noticed that their front legs were growing in a crooked fashion. No time was wasted in having them looked at by a bone and joint specialist at ACCESS Speciality Animal Hospital in Culver City.

The adorable kittens were found to have carpal laxity syndrome, which is a condition that is usually seen in puppies. It is believed that an imbalance in growth rates between bones and tendons of the front limbs causes this condition.

All of the Kittens Must Wear Casts

To help the kittens recover from carpal laxity syndrome, they all have to wear casts to help their legs grow properly. They are receiving frequent check-ups to make sure that the legs grow correctly.  The goal is for them to be able to walk and run normally someday soon.

The Facebook Resue Page posted, “Each kitten in this litter is exceptionally sweet and affectionate, and we want to make sure they’re given a chance to grow up healthy, happy, and strong. We secretly think they look extra adorable with their tiny casts… but we still want them to get taken off ASAP!”

Furthermore, with a lot of help from caregivers and people wanting them to thrive, they should grow to become healthy cats. Hopefully, someday they will be able to be adopted out into loving families.
