There are more than 30 million stray dogs in India, and because there are so many, they are often considered nuisances and therefore poorly treated. Fortunately, there are organizations that are dedicated to helping dogs, even though many still fall through the cracks.
In India, These Kind People Help Dogs
Animal Aid Unlimited, India is one such organization that provides love and care for dogs who need it the most. One recent instance is particularly touching. So touching, in fact, that it’s gone viral, receiving nearly 7,000,000 views on YouTube.
Puppy gets to eat
In the video, we see the sweet puppy above, whimpering in fear, and yelping in obvious pain, his skin horribly ravaged by infection. He hides inside a bag as one kind rescuer tries to coax him out with a bit of food. After a moment’s hesitation, he finally eats the food, and the man pets him. The puppy gets to eat a bit more food, and the man scoops him up in a blanket.
The puppy’s skin condition is so bad he’s almost completely hairless and has a deep wound on one hip. His eyes told a story of pain and fear and therefore his rescuers knew what they had to do.
“We found him hiding in a plastic bag, and the moment we touched the bag he screamed in pain,” the rescuers wrote under the YouTube video. “He was desperately hungry so we could coax him out with biscuits, but every time we tried to touch him he cried out. He had severe mange and a deep wound on his hip that was causing him the shooting pains every time he moved.”
Everything changed for the puppy, now named Jumper, once he arrived at the rescue center. He received medical treatment and lots of love and good food.
His fur grew out and he became a cute black-and-white dog who turned into a blur of activity.
And he received lots of kisses.
Here he gets a tickly belly rub.
And has time for a kiss.
He has buddies to play with as well.
Jumper’s story has a happy ending, and he’s loved and cared for. But you can also help more dogs in India to get their care they need by donating to Animal Aid Unlimited here.
