Loyal Dog Doesn’t Understand Where His Owner Went, Waits By His Empty Hospital Bed

Most of the time, it’s humans who have to cope with the loss of a dog, not the other way around. But sadly, sometimes dogs have to mourn the loss of their special human. With dogs, the grief can be so sad to witness because it seems as if many dogs don’t understand that their human is never coming back. Such was the case for a three-year-old lab named Moose from New Jersey. His owner passed away, but Moose continued to wait and wait for his dad to come back.

A photo of Moose waiting by an empty bedside went viral. His human had died in the hospital, while moose continued to wait for him to come home. Rescues are hoping that the sad photo will help a compassionate person to adopt Moose and give him a forever home.

NorthStar Pet Rescue and also Eleventh Hour Rescue posted the photo online. They wrote,

“He’s a sweet happy boy by nature. He just needs people to help his heart heal. Let’s mend this broken heart, together.”

Dogs Are Very Intuitive and Sensitive.

Jme Thomas, executive director of the Motley Zoo Animal rescue, talked about how smart and sensitive dogs are. He said,

“Dogs are highly intuitive and sensitive, more than people give them credit for.”

A rescue in Rockaway Township in New Jersey wrote on their Facebook page,

“Moose sat patiently next to his dad’s hospital bed, waiting for him to return, not knowing that ‘Dad’ had passed away. Moose has now been returned to our friends at Eleventh Hour Rescue and he’s taking the loss of his dad pretty hard.”

All of the publicity over the very sad photo of Moose helped. He has been adopted into a loving family! Now Moose will have a family to help him through his grief.

Great job to all who opened their hearts and shared the photo of Moose. May he live a long and happy rest of his life.
