For some people, tragedy and loss will cause them to harden their heart. For other people, though, turmoil makes their heart grow larger instead. For example, country superstar Luke Bryan lost both of his older siblings in separate sudden tragedies. Then, he also lost his niece at seven months old because of a congenital heart defect.
Luke never closed his heart, though, instead he opened it up as well as his home.
LUKE BRYAN
You see, after the loss of their niece, Luke and Caroline Bryan started Brett’s Barn to honor the memory of Sadie Brett Boyer. The very first animal the couple added was a white pony, as promised.
“After Brett passed away, I decided to keep a promise I made to her when she was about a month old… a white pony!” wrote Caroline. “We found the pony at a local animal rescue facility. Along with the white pony, we adopted another pony, goat, and pig.”
ANIMALS EVERYWHERE
Well, the couple didn’t stop there, either.

“Hello friends!!” Meet Goober Goldsby (GG)….our first sweetie to join Brett’s Barn. For some reason, GG was abandoned shortly after birth. Luckily, our dear friend @aquatroyg rescued this sweet baby and bottle fed him until he was strong enough to join our family. GG enjoys running in circles, climbing, stealing kisses, stealing cat food, and annoying the other animals! Occasionally, he escapes the barn and runs straight to our house for a visit. GG thinks it’s funny to destroy my landscaping, watch the kids swim, make himself at home on the furniture, and he LOVES my brother!! Oh how we love this silly goat! ♥️ #brettsbarn #brightforbrett

As you can see, the couple added goats, chickens, pigs, and even a couple of adorable mini-llamas.
Of course, Brett’s farm also has a few expected animals, like this kitty cat.
Amazingly, they even have a couple of kangaroos!
However, when a local rescue posted a photo of an aging dog who was suddenly homeless, the Bryans simply couldn’t ignore it.
COMING HOME
When the Proverbs 12:10 animal shelter posted this photo — it tugged on the Bryan’s heartstrings.
You see, this is Poochie. Poochie is an 18-year-old mixed-breed dog nearing the end of his life. Sadly, his owner said they developed a sudden allergy to him — so they turned him over to a shelter.
Because of Poochie’s advanced age, the workers at the shelter assumed that he would spend the rest of his days there with them.
Luckily for Poochie, the Bryans saw his post on Facebook. Of course, they have plenty of room at Brett’s Farm, and they just knew that Poochie would fit right in.
Well, as you can see, they were absolutely correct.

We aren’t sure who is luckier in this equation. After all, Poochie gets to live out his remaining years with this beautiful family.
However, the Bryan’s get to have this sweet, adorable, dedicated boi to hang out with too.
One thing is sure, Brett’s Farm looks like a place where most anyone wouldn’t mind settling down for their golden years — whether they have four legs or only two.
