People can become very bonded. You can see this in humankind in many different places. A husband and a wife who has been happily married for 70 plus years, twins who are both in triple digits living together in nursing homes or friends who have been there for each other through thick and thin all their lives, are all tightly bonded. Some people just need each other. They thrive being together and become depressed when apart. The same can be said of some animals. This is the story of two German Shepherds needing forever homes together.

A pair of German Shepherds named Gus and Laurie were found together when they were only 3 months old. They had taken shelter in someone’s barn when they were discovered.  At that time, they were taken to Shenandoah Shepherd Rescue in Stephens City, Virginia.

Shenandoah Shepherd Rescue posted this on their Facebook page, “They’ve only ever known each other. They were found as strays at three months old and have since lived in someone’s barn. They’re around 7 months old now and we are so hopeful that we can find someone to keep these two together. If you’re looking for a bonded pair, look no further.”

The Photos of Gus and Laurie Have Been Shared On Social Media Over 16,000 Times

Since the duo has been shared on social media, the photos went viral. The photos have been shared over 16,000 times. Perhaps it’s the body language going on that has captured people’s hearts. Clearly, the way that the two are looking in the photos, they need each other. While humans may have failed them, they have always had each other. We can only speculate and guess what they have been through together.

In reference to the response to their social media postings, the rescue released the following statement: “We have had an overwhelming response to this post. If you are interested in Gus and Laurie please apply at shenandoahrescue.org/adoption-process. These pups are pending cat and kid testing and have arrived at their foster in Virginia.

The Two Must Be Adopted Together

Shenandoah Shepherd Rescue wrote on their Facebook page, “We have been getting a lot of inbox questions about this pair! Let me try to answer them here. The adoption fee is $325 each. They must be adopted together. They just arrived to their foster today in northern Virginia so we don’t know much about them yet.” The post went on to say, “They are not aggressive but are in need of socialization.”

The rescue also wanted to thank everyone for their sharing and response to their posts. They wrote on their Facebook page, “We haven’t made a ‘thank you’ post in a while and given tonight’s events of Gus and Laurie being shared by some crazy big pages, I just wanted to say THANK YOU to all of our followers. You have all supported Jen and me since day 1 when we jumped in both feet first to save Frozone and now here we are, 10 months later, 350 dogs in and counting. There are dogs from WV, VA, TX, NC, GA, FL, PA, MD, EGYPT and more sitting in safe, warm, loving homes thanks to the endless shares, donations and support you provide. As we have always said, we are in this for the dogs. Because every dog deserves a home.”
