Pickles, a 2-year-old pit bull was lost and alone on the streets in early September. To make matters worse she was pregnant and growing bigger by the minute. Thankfully, animal control picked her up before she was hit by a car or without food for too long. But sadly, when they contacted the owners to pick Pickles up, they dumped her off at the shelter.
Because Pickles was pregnant, she was taken to Pits & Giggles Rescue. The rescue specializes in taking care of pregnant and nursing mother dogs and their puppies. When Pickles arrived, she seemed overjoyed to meet everyone at the rescue.
“She is a ‘pit bull in a China shop,’” Lauren Casteen Sykes, a volunteer with Pits & Giggles Rescue said. “Mama Pickles is all tail wags and smooshy kisses and must be underfoot and in your space at all times! She is definitely a ‘velcro pitty,’ and certainly has a little bit of mischief in her eyes.”
As a way to help Pickle’s puppies get adopted, Sykes who is also the owner of Enchanted Hills Photography did a pregnancy photoshoot with the sweet soon-to-be mama. The results are adorable!
The Photoshoot Had Everyone Laughing
“It was hilarious,” Sykes said. “She is ALL belly and a bit clumsy, so getting her posed was not difficult, but getting her to sit still long enough to get a picture was no easy task! Her bows were crooked, falling off and tripping her up — we couldn’t help but laugh, she’s such a cartoon!”
Soon after the photoshoot, Pickles gave birth to eight puppies who happened to be all girls. This called for another photo shoot. The results turned out absolutely sweet as can be.
As soon as the puppies are old enough to be adopted, it is hoped that people will be lined up waiting to bring them into loving homes. Adoption applications will be accepted soon.
