Saber-Tooth Tiger Struts Down Street, One Guy Steps Too Close In Hilarious Prank

Saber-toothed tigers have been extinct for a very long time.  Or so we thought that they were.

People in L.A were treated to a big surprise when a life-sized Saber-toothed Tiger Robot calmly walked down the street.  The big cat looked so real as it moved it’s head around and let children pet it. However, it didn’t seem to have as much patience with adults as it did with the little ones.

The life-size cat robot was created to promote an Ice Age exhibition at the La Brea Tar Pits, Page Museum in Los Angeles.

A Saber-toothed cat is considered to be any member of various extinct groups of predatory mammals.  These animals were characterized by their long, curved saber-shaped canine teeth.  The large teeth protruded from the mouth even when it was closed.

The use of the word cat for this creature is somewhat deceptive as the Saber-toothed Tiger was believed to not be closely related to the cats that roam the world today.  The build of this magnificent animal was believed to have been even more bear-like than cat-like.

Watch this video as people who are casually enjoying ice cream get treated to being in the presence of such a big cat.  Some of the on-lookers seem almost in disbelief as to whether the cat is real or not.

Whatever you may imagine a Saber-toothed Tiger to look and act like, how would you feel if this robot walking down the street?  It sure seems well mannered.  Most of the comments left on social media were that it walked a little strange.  Take a look and see for yourself.  It sure is impressive that people could make such a life-like looking cat.

Would You Pet This Kitty?
