Battling cancer is no easy feat. Tests, medicine, chemo, being sick – it is not fun to go through this. Crystal Chrisp, a 46-year-old woman, went through a tough battle with cancer. The only thing that kept her going was her dog Shell. Unfortunately, Crystal’s cancer ended up returning and she felt she could no longer win the battle. Chrisp’s body was found in her apartment by the police with a gunshot wound. They think this was the cause of death. Because of this, what would happen to her precious Shell?
Dog brought to the animal shelter with a heartbreaking note…
Crystal wanted to make sure that her little dog was going to be taken care of. Before her passing, she wrote a note – which police found. They brought the dog to Stray Rescue Animal Shelter in St. Louis, MO. She explained her health issues and that she could no longer take care of her precious dog. Crystal wanted to make sure Shell had a good home to go to.
The letter read:
“Dear Stray Rescue,
I am writing you cause I need you to take my dog, Shell…I’ve been fighting cancer for a few months and if you’re reading this I lost my battle. I need for my baby girl to be taken care of in a home…In these days all I do is worry about what’s going to happen to her. I love this girl, she is my daughter.”
SRAS posted the letter and a picture of the dog on their Facebook page, believing the dog was 11 years old. The senior dog would need a good home to relax in.
We received the most heartbreaking letter today. "Dear Stray Rescue, I am writing you cause I need you to take my dog,…
Shell is getting a forever home again!
The dog originally belonged to Crystal’s mother who adopted Shell in 2009. Unfortunately, her mother battled with Alzheimer’s and could no longer care for the dog. Crystal decided to adopt the dog herself. She described her baby as being shy and not being trusting of humans at first.
Chrisp worked as a metro bus driver for 18 years. Her colleagues only had words of praise for her as a person. A co-worker named Sharon Hyster-Harris says, “She was my friend and I’m going to miss her. My heart is really aching right now for her. She was dealing with it a few years back and it went into remission. A few months ago it came back. I think she just decided she couldn’t deal with it anymore.”
Now Shell has a new owner and a forever home to be proud of!
We have a happy ending to Shell’s tragic story. As most of you know, we received a heart breaking letter on Monday….
