Make sure you have a box of tissues handy because this skeletal dog’s comeback story is going to tug on those heartstrings. When rescuers found this dog — she was inches from death’s door.
The poor animal was so severely starved, even eating at that point would have killed her.
Sadly, not everyone in our world treats animals with kindness and love.
That was indeed the case for the dog you are about to meet — who rescuers later named Angel.
For some reason, unknowable to any human with a heart, someone had forced poor Angel to go without food for months.
By the time rescuers got to her, they weren’t sure they could save her life.
The staff at Rescue from the Hart animal shelter found out about Angel’s fight to survive.
They decided then and there that they would give Angel her very best chance.
Though, as you can see from these photographs, Angel had quite a long road ahead of her.
You see, poor Angel couldn’t even stand without help.
ONE MORSEL AT A TIME
Now, as we said, when someone is as malnourished as poor Angel, you can’t just pump them full of food.
Doing so could kill them.
Instead, volunteers stayed with Angel and fed the skeletal dog one morsel at a time.
Hour after hour and day after day, volunteers helped nurse Angel back to life.
Before long, something amazing happened.
The volunteers knew Angel would be okay because finally, she stood up on her own.
But that’s not all.
You see, as Angel started to feel better, her personality began to shine through.
You might think, because of all the trauma and abuse, that Angel would be shy and possibly aggressive.
However, you would be wrong.
Angel is full of life, energetic, curious, and sweet as pie.
She gets along great with other dogs as well as little kids.
Now, rescuers knew it was time for the final step — a forever home for little Miss Angel.
We are happy to report that sweet Angel already found her forever home, as well.
One thing is sure, if this dog can go from skeletal to loving forever home, that should make you realize you can do anything you put your mind to as long as you have the right team to help you through it.
Share this with your friends to thank the team for helping Angel get a whole new life.
