Surprise visitor during a church service, watch this priest’s reaction

Often when people think of going to Church, dog-friendly does not come to mind. Although I am sure people would attempt to bring their dogs in if it were more socially acceptable. During a recent holy ceremony in Brazil, a priest was surprised to see a furry friend walk into his service.

Father José Geraldo Sobreira was leading a service at the Nossa Senhora das Dores parish per usual. Suddenly the priest noticed an uncommon guest. Though he was surprised, he most definitely was not angry. At first, Father ignored the dog’s presence. Then the dog got closer and closer to him, practically begging for his attention.

Once the dog became close enough, the priest pets him. Many people were heart warmed by his act of kindness. Most people would shoo a surprise visitor. After he gave the dog his attention, the dog rolled over. Clearly, the pooch wanted a belly rub!

That still was not enough for the playful pup. The dog began to get excited. Later in the service, the dog begins to bite the priest’s robe. Maybe this is why most places of worship are not pet-friendly? There are just too many fun things dogs can get distracted by, such as priests and their robes!

“Beautiful father! I loved your gesture! Each day that passes I realize animals are in this world to teach us what pure love is, and that all humans should spread it.”
