They Think They Are Rescuing a Stray Dog, But When They Get Closer, Jaws Drop

As a terribly neglected dog, wandered the streets the Hope For Paws rescue team was about to spring into action.   As the team got closer to scene they noticed something was very different about this dog.

When the team first spotted “Julia” she was about to walk into a yard.  The dog had an old rope around her neck which indicated to us that someone had owned and neglected her at a criminal level.

It’s hard to tell with her coat but she was skin and bones, she was swollen from major infections, she was bleeding, pus was oozing from everywhere.  She was in really bad shape.

Slowly the team started offering her treats.  Even though she was starved she took the food gently from rescuers.

Once they arrived at the Vet Care Center the treatment began.  A test was run and suspicions were confirmed…..Julia had Mange. Mange is a highly contagious skin disease found in dogs, caused by the Sarcoptes scabiei mite. These mites will burrow through the skin causing intense itching and irritation. Her paws were swollen and her nails were extremely long they were causing her so much pain….but her life was about to change.

She is only 2 years old but her eyes have seen so much in that short time.  I don’t even want to think about what she went through during that time.

Julia received a bath, a nail trim, medicine, rest, sleep and a good dose of love she has improved a lot since she arrived.  To see updates on Julia click here.
