Everyone knows that it’s always best to be responsible and show up for work on time. When you know you are going to be late, however, honesty is usually the best policy. When Jenn found herself running late for work, and she texted her boss to let him know why it never occurred to her to be anything less than honest about the reason.
And thank goodness for that.
First, a little background information about Jenn. Jenn has been with the company for a really long time, and she is an ideal employee.
“This lady had been with the company for about 8 years,” wrote the boss. “This was the first time Jenn has been late in nearly six years. She missed work one other time in her nearly eight-year career with us, and that was when her son had his wisdom teeth removed about nine months into her employment.”
This time around, Jenn was eleven minutes late to work.
“Not too terrible, if you’re asking me,” said the boss. “She’s also a very sweet older lady that the guys in the office call ‘Mom.’ Jenn also calls herself ‘Mom’ in company emails, etc. She fully embraces the name and has done so since her last child left for college almost five years ago.”
Now that you have a little background on what Jenn is like as an employee, keep scrolling to learn the delightful reason for her tardiness.
How adorable is that exchange? Since we already know that Jenn is not the type of person to do this sort of things regularly, it’s absolutely delightful to know that, on this day, she took that few extra minutes for her fur baby.
The absolute best part, however, is how cool her boss was about the whole thing.
JUST TRYING TO BE A GOOD BOSS
