As any parent of a child will tell you the “toddler years” can be exhausting.Toddlers are an active bunch, always on the move discovering the world around them. They aren’t aware of the dangers that could be waiting for them right outside their own front door. One evening something happened in the rural town of Cordes Lakes, Arizona that caused the entire town to be shaken…. A toddler was lost.
One evening something happened in the rural town of Cordes Lakes, Arizona that caused the entire town to be shaken…. A toddler was lost in the woods.
3-year-old Victoria wandered away from her home. It was going to be a frigid night, the temperature was going to drop dramatically. That didn’t stop Victoria. She wandered out the door looking for her doggie, Blue, who went missing in the woods near the families home.
For 15 hours, Search and Rescue teams scoured the area. Finally, a helicopter spotted Victoria lying in a dry creek bed. They couldn’t believe what they saw next….Blue was right there lying on top of her.
Blue, a Queensland Heeler had been a part of the family since Victoria was born had stayed right by her side all night. He had been keeping her warm when the temps dropped below freezing.
Once the medics arrived, Blue was being very protective of her and the medics were concerned they would be bitten. But as soon as Victoria stood up and smiled, Blue relaxed and the two were sent up to safety in a helicopter.
Though she suffered from mild frostbite, Victoria’s family credited their faithful dog Blue with saving her life.
“The dog kept her alert, warm and gave her companionship throughout a very cold night.” said a spokesperson for the sheriff’s department.
Blue and Victoria will share a bond that will last a lifetime. Victoria’s family is blessed to have them both safe and sound.
