When a purebred gets loose and comes home pregnant the owners may not be all too happy about the consequences. Which is what happened in this story.
This little pup named Mojito and his siblings were born to a purebred pug who got pregnant when she ran away. When she returned the owners wanted nothing to do with the new puppies. The immediately surrendered the entire litter to Love Leo Rescue in Los Angeles, California.
The puppies were half pug and half Chihuahua so the staff there called them “chugs”. Each puppy was given a name there was Mojito, Mimosa, Daiquiri and Pina Colada.
We offered to spay the mom for free, but sadly they declined our offer. We run a free spay and neuter clinic for low-income residents and cannot emphasize enough how important it is to spay and neuter your pets.
Darker Dogs Get Adopted, Less
According to Scottish Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, dogs with darker coats generally get adopted less, because they don’t photograph as well. Unfortunately, that was the case for Mojito and two of his sisters. However, Mojito’s problems didn’t end there.
Mojito was the only male in the litter and he was also the run. This means he was smaller than his siblings, he had shorter legs and a pug-like face. One good thing he had going for him was that he was the most affectionate of the litter and loved snuggling.
Things Are Looking Up
The Chugs only spent a month at the rescue before an unexpected guest arrived. Actress Hilary Duff came by and said she wanted to adopt Mojito – now, Momo. She already had a few dogs, but that didn’t stop her from expanding her family.
Now Mojito has his forever home and has the best life ever in the arms of Hilary Duff. Thanks to Hilary Duff for welcoming Mojito into her family.
